Where I work.

I am based in Walsall and work within about an hour to an hour and a half of home. Each area below has its own kind of housing, so each page explains what I usually find there and what tends to help.

Which areas do you cover most often?

Sutton Coldfield, Great Barr and Aldridge are my core areas, with Walsall itself on the doorstep. These places have a lot of 1930s semis with bay windows and older solid-walled homes, exactly the houses where cold rooms and mould are most common.

Sutton Coldfield

Interwar semis with cold bays and larger period homes. My main service pages cover Sutton Coldfield in detail: internal wall insulation, bay window insulation and condensation and black mould.

Walsall

Victorian terraces in Caldmore and Palfrey, interwar semis across the borough. My home patch, a short drive from anywhere.

Great Barr

1930s semis where the bay is the coldest part of the house, across the Walsall, Sandwell and Birmingham sides.

Aldridge

An old village centre and large post-war estates. Honest advice on which homes need internal insulation and which need something else.

Do you work further afield?

Yes. I regularly travel to the towns and cities below. Surveys are booked in advance so the travel never cuts the visit short.

Birmingham

Victorian terraces in Moseley and Kings Heath, interwar estates in the north of the city, and advice for landlords.

Solihull

Bay-fronted 1930s semis in Olton and Shirley and Victorian and Edwardian houses that need a careful, breathable approach.

Lichfield

A Georgian city centre with over 200 listed buildings. Breathable systems, lime finishes and listed building consent.

Cannock

Solid-walled terraces from the mining era, exposed gable walls and mouldy back rooms.

Wolverhampton

Tall Victorian villas in Tettenhall, terraces in Whitmore Reans and interwar semis to the north.

What do people usually ask for in each area?

Broadly, the housing shapes the request. This is a rough guide from the enquiries I get, not a rule.

My town isn't listed. Can you still help?

Wherever you live, the process is the same: a free home visit where I listen first, check the walls, damp and ventilation, then a written recommendation and quote. You can see the result of one job in my case study.
